1.Where did the idea for
this site come from?
The basic idea for running a page with nothing but images and links to advertiser's
web pages, came from a young student named Alex Tew, who was trying to find
a way to pay his way through university in England. His idea was to divide
the screen into 100 pixel blocks, (because that was the smallest size a meaningful
image could be displayed), and sell each block for $100, $1 per pixel. The
name of his site was the milliondollarhomepage.
His idea took off, and the young man sold every pixel block on his web page!
How's that for entrepreneurship?
By the way, why don't you check
out our sister site milliondollarhomez?
2.What can you do with
this site?
This site will make it easier for anyone that has a special toy and wishes
to sell it. It will become a central location where
buyers can come to preview that special toy that he or she's been looking
for. Sellers will list their toys here because they'll get the best
bang for their advertising dollar!
3.My toy is not worth
a million dollars. Am I out of luck?
Not at all. There are no price restrictions here. I merely chose the name
milliondollartoyz, because it's an attention getter. It worked with you right?
since here you are reading this FAQ.
As long as you own your TOY, free and clear,
then you can use our site. $5,000 to $50,000,000, it's all the same. Let's
get your TOY sold!
4.Why are there so
many grids?
We've decided to categorize the toys that people wouild buy or sell to make
it easier to find what you're looking for. We have a grid strictly for
Automobiles, one for sailing vessels of all kinds and one catch-all grid
for anything else that someone has and wants to find a buyer for. Because
let's face it, when you're searching for a particular item, it'd be easier
to restrict your search to a specific area. If we kept everything
on one page it would make it harder for you to find that special toy.
5.How much do I have to
pay?
Each pixel costs 25 cents USD, and since the smallest
block of pixels you can buy is 10px X 10px then the minimum purchase
price is $25. Let's say you wish to purchase a block with 20 pixels
across and 30 pixels down. So we multiply 20px X 30px = 600px X $1 = $150.
This amount would be paid initially, and
will hold your pixels for a period of 1 year, making this
a very small price to pay, considering the fact your ad will run for
360 days. There are no other charges, no commissions paid on sale, just
the pixel purchase.
You will receive an email renewal alert
30 days before your annual period expires. If you wish to renew then
follow the instructions within the email, and you will be asked to pay
the annual fee again. If you let the term expire without renewing, then
your pixels will become available for re-sale. There will be a 10 day
grace period during which you can still renew your pixel ad.
Are you worried about the cost? Why don't you pick
up your local paper's classifieds and check the price for a 3 line ad
for 1 week. My classifieds charge $75 per week. So the annual
tab would be $3900, and that's just for 3 lines. We'll give you a whole
web page for $25. Please see Question 9 for more info on this topic.
6.How many pixels can
I purchase?
You may purchase as many pixels as you like! There are no limits here, and you also get to pick the location where your ad will be placed so it pays to get in early!
7.How big are these
advertising blocks?
Here are some examples of different sized pixel blocks, and how much space
your advertising dollars will purchase:
10px X 10px pixel block =
$25 USD
20px X 20px pixel block = $100 USD
40px X 40px pixel block = $400 USD
8.I sold my toy,
or I pulled it from the market. What now?
In this case, then the owner of those pixels
has the option to upload a link to another toy.
There will be a charge for this service, but
it will be discounted 50% from the original purchase price. So, if you purchased
a 20px X 20px block for $400, and the item that it links to is no longer
available, then for the sum of $200 you can upload a different link to a different
TOY you wish to sell. Just email us the information at changemyad@milliondollartoyz.com
and we'll put the changes in within 48hours. However,
this discounted price will only apply to the original time period. You do
not get another 360 day period for this discounted price. If you wish your
ad to run for a full 360 day period, then you must purchase the pixels for
the full price.
If, however, the owner wishes to pull his ad and
does not have another TOY to list or doesn't wish to list his TOY
anymore, then the ad and link will be pulled, and the purchased pixels will
become available for purchase again. But no refunds will be given.
9.I don't have a web site.
How do I advertise my TOY?
No problem there. Just click the Get Pixels link, and follow the prompts. Pick
one of the sample pixel images, or upload one of your own, and when you are
asked to input a link use http://www.milliondollartoyz.com . Then send an
email to placemyad@milliondollartoyz.com with a picture and description
of your TOY, and we will create a single page for you where this information
can be displayed when someone clicks on your pixel block. (click here to
see what the page would look like.)
The information and pictures will be displayed on a single web page only.
Pictures delivered for posting should be less than 100k each. If not, they
will be optimized for web viewing, and an additional fee will be charged.
We'll allow up to 8 pictures per listing. Once a page is posted, (uploaded),
there will be no alterations or modifications performed on said page unless
there are major changes to the listing that need to be made, in which case
there will be an additional fee charged.
(We reserve the right to make changes to these features if it is deemed
appropriate, and the costs or labor involved in maintaining these pages becomes
too great.)
10.I'm not ready to sell,
so why should I be interested?
Good question. But here's an equally good answer. You might not be ready
to sell NOW, but what about a few months from now? If you wait that
long there might not be too many pixel blocks available, or 'horrors',
we might be sold out. So if you upload your TOY's info and pictures now,
and place a much higher price than the TOY is worth, (since you really
don't want to sell now, but you would at that price right?
),
then for a measly $25, that offer will remain on our site for 1 year.
Try getting a deal like that from your neighborhood classifieds!
And don't forget that if someone does want to
pay that ridiculous amount you're asking for, you can upload the info and
pictures relating to your next, TOY, again asking much more
than it's worth since you've got time to play with and for half
price too! (see
q8 for more info).
11.How long will the site
be active?
The web site is guaranteed to be up and active for a MINIMUM of 5 YEARS,
(at least until Feb 2012), but our aim is to stay up for as long as the site
is viable, which could be forever in internet years. Think of all those eyeballs
viewing your ads!
12.What happens with
my personal information?
Our privacy policy is to never divulge any personal information we might have
gathered about the advertiser, unless we are ordered to do so by court order.
All information we gather is for internal use only and to help us better
serve you, our advertiser. Email addresses and other personal information we might have collected during the normal course of operations will never be shared, sold or traded, with any individual or organization.
